Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Aikon Sports.
What is Aikon Sports?

Aikon Sports is a sports social network. At its core, it connects you with people in your community who play the same sport, so you can find your people and never have to play alone. From there you can meet up and compete. See who's playing right now on a live map, and climb a gamified rank system as you go head to head. And when you want to sharpen your game or pick up a whole new sport, our daily-workout map guides you through it one session at a time.

When do other sports launch?

We're launching with basketball this fall. From there, we'll add one new sport at a time, growing until Aikon covers all sports by year five. Next up after basketball is pickleball, with more rolling out from there.

Is it safe for younger users?

Yes. Minor safety comes first. Players under 18 have private profiles by default, are hidden from the Discover page, and never appear on the live map (they're only counted in a gym's headcount, never shown). You can also block and report anyone.

Do I need to be good to use it?

Not at all. Aikon is built for every level. Set your skill level, follow a daily-workout map made for your game, and improve at your own pace. Everyone has a place on our app.

Who made Aikon Sports?

Aikon Sports was built by former college basketball players who live in this market and know firsthand what it's like to want to play but not know where to go or who to run with.

Does it track my location?

No. Aikon does not track your location or follow you around. Location services need to be on, but only so a check-in can be verified. Aikon can't tell you're near a gym on its own. It only knows where you are the moment you choose to check in: when you tap check in, the app confirms you're within about 150 feet of that location, and only then are you placed on the map. Turn location off and you simply can't check in. You're never on the map unless you put yourself there. To be clear: Aikon is never actively tracking you and does not see where you are. Your location stays private and blended in, surfacing only for the moment you check yourself in.

How do I check into a gym?

Open the live map, find a gym with players, and tap check in. You'll need to be within about 150 feet of the gym for it to register. Tap check out when you leave, and if you forget, you're checked out automatically after two hours. It's all manual, so you're only on the map when you choose to be.

What does it cost?

Aikon Sports is free. We're focused on building the community first, so you can train, compete, and connect at no cost. Get in early and start playing.

Can I block and report accounts?

Yes. You can block any account to stop them from seeing or contacting you, and report anyone who breaks the rules. We review reports and take action to keep the community safe.

How do I earn XP?

You earn XP for just about everything: logging in, keeping your daily streak, completing workouts, showing up and checking into gyms, and adding friends (or getting added back). The more active you are, the higher you climb the leaderboard.
